Porter’s Response #4: Not Enough Recycling

What is the purpose of recycling? I found the answer to this question after reading the website titled Trash Trip. Recycling is done in order to reuse things. Michael Tyson wrote blogs on the Trash Trip website in order to persuade people to  get rid of wastes around the world.

When Michael Tyson wrote in the Daily News Miner of Fairbanks, Alaska, Lisa  responded to him which led him to attend the Stop Waste meeting. After reading the website I was well informed of how important it is to recycle. Each of the blogs written on the website mentions different waste items that can be reused again.

If everyone recycled paper, then there would be fewer trees needing to be cut down. Fewer animal habitats would be destroyed for those animals living in or around trees. Also, some waste products, that could be recycled,  are burned and they put off bad fumes into the atmosphere which causes pollution. Moreover, the environment would be healthier and definitely cleaner if reusable items were disposed of properly.

Furthermore, in the blogs, Tyson mentions traveling to several states which could become very expensive just to get the word out for recycling. On the other hand, the word is being put out that there needs to be more recycling done in order to improve the environment and to prevent the amounts of waste.
